Jlee has some of the most detailed looks I've ever seen, and this is why we've selected her as Artist of the Month! Let's here some tips an tricks from the eyeliner queen herself!
When did you start doing makeup art?
I've been doing my own makeup since I was about 13 or 14, but I didn't start my makeup page until June 2020.
What inspired you to start doing makeup?
I started watching makeup tutorials and videos on YouTube but always found that the looks never turned out the same when I would try to replicate them on myself. I have monolid-shaped eyes, so I don't have a crease like most people do. I even considered getting double-eyelid surgery when I got older so that I'd have a crease, too. But after practicing and learning more about my eye shape, I realized that makeup won't look exactly the same on me and that's okay. I slowly started creating looks on my own, really embraced my eye shape and now there's nothing I can't create on my lid space!
What is your favorite makeup look you've ever done?
It's so hard to choose, I love them all! If I HAD to choose just one, I think it would have to be the haunted mansion look I did in October 2020. It took me over 3 hours but it was well worth the effort. The look was reposted by a really big brand and I feel like that look really jumpstarted my account and made me think, "okay, maybe I really can do this."
If you could collaborate with any artist, who would it be?
I know so many talented artists; I'd be honored to collab with any of them! I can't possibly pick just one!
What's your favorite color?
Red. I've always been told red is my color and I look best in red. I also always get complimented whenever I wear a red lip.
What is your favorite Fleeky Friday product and why?
The black and white water-activated cake liners. They are by far the most pigmented black and white liners I've used so far and I am always getting asked what liner I'm using on TikTok.
